Recruiters look at LinkedIn before they read a resume. This layout makes the first screen of your profile answer three things: who you are, what you do, and how to reach you.

LinkedIn profile layout

Headline

Formula: [Role] building [what you build] for [who] · [proof or niche]

Example: [Front-end developer building fast WordPress and Next.js sites for Gulf brands · 40+ launches]

Note: The headline is what people see in search results and next to your comments. Put the words someone would search for first.

About

Paragraph 1, what you do: [One or two sentences in plain language.]

Paragraph 2, proof: [Two or three results with numbers, or clients people will recognise.]

Paragraph 3, how you work: [What working with you is like: tools, process, time zone.]

Paragraph 4, next step: [What you're open to, and how to reach you: email or a booking link.]

Featured

  • Your portfolio site
  • One case study or live project
  • A post or video where you explain your work

Experience

Use the same result-first bullets as your resume. Link each role to the right company page so its logo shows, and add a link or screenshot of the work where you can.

Skills

  • Pin your top three skills: the ones in your headline
  • Ask two colleagues to endorse each of them

Profile basics

  • Photo: your face fills most of the frame, plain background
  • Banner: your name and role, or a screenshot of your best work
  • Custom URL: linkedin.com/in/[firstname-lastname]
  • Contact info: email and portfolio link
  • Open to work: set it to recruiters only if you're currently employed
